BeautyCounter

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today, I wanted to share a bit of information and a review of two premium makeup products from BeautyCounter. I was thrilled to dive in and learn more about a company that prides itself on “Safer Skincare” and products that are developed with a rigorous ingredient selection process. They have banned over 1,500 ingredients and harmful chemicals that have been deemed unsafe and they’re constantly doing research and updating their protocol to manufacture the highest quality products. Also, over 80% of the ingredients are organic, natural or plant-derived. I love that they are sourcing as naturally as possible. Their mission is to get safer beauty products in the hands of everyone, and you can use their products confidently knowing you are safe in their hands! BeautyCounter offers cosmetics, skincare, sun care, and even baby products. I’ll be reviewing the Lip Sheer in the color Scarlet and the Lengthening Mascara.

After my son was born, I started to become more and more aware about harmful chemicals and toxins in everyday products that we use on our skin, hair, and even what we eat. I was extremely particular about what products I used for him (he has very sensitive skin and issues with excema), and as time went on I started filtering through my everyday products and tossing what didn’t make the “safety” cut for fear it may harm him. After pregnancy, even my skin became more sensitive and my face is certainly an area that is prone to issues from the wrong kind of products. It’s definitely something to think about if you have any question about the quality of your everyday products and the protection of your skin.

I was extremely impressed with the Lip Sheer. In fact, I’ve been wearing it everywhere I go. It’s a beautiful everyday shade of red with a slight sheen. It’s not too bright, and since the formula is so creamy and smooth, it leaves your lips feeling very hydrated. There is also a slight hint of vanilla fragrance. (You’ll pretty much be licking your lips all day, but no need to worry! The color is very long lasting!) The Lip Sheer is available in ten fabulous colors. I’ve got my eyes on Currant for Fall! You can shop the lip sheer here.

Coco does have a valid point! Words of wisdom here, people!

Next, I tried the Lengthening Mascara. I really like the way the wand grips your lashes and the formula (infused with shea butter and organic oils) conditions as your wear it. I used two coats and then used the tip of the wand on the ends of my outer lashes for extra volume. I tend to go a bit heavy on the mascara, but this is a really nice change of pace for me to experiment with a more natural look. I will say, I felt like extended my lashes, separated them well, and they were seemingly longer than normal. I used with and without primer throughout the two weeks I’ve been testing the products with my everyday routine. With primer, I felt it gave me more of the volume that I’m used to with my previous go-to mascara. Without the primer, it was a more natural look.

Hey guys! Ah, it has been forever since my last post. I’ve missed you and blog world so much!! Forever= two weeks, but so much has happened in that short period of time and I can’t wait to fill you in on the deets. SOOOOO, without further adieu…my big news is *drumroll please* …my hubby got a new job and we are moving! 🎉I’m so proud of him for taking this leap to expand his career and work toward the long term goals for our future. This wonderful opportunity also comes with a relocation. Sadly, out of Charleston. 😭But, back to our hometown! 😀I’m incredibly heartbroken to leave a city that I feel like I love like a person (Charleston, I’m sorry but we’re going to have to break up. It’s not you, it’s me!) But, moving back to our hometown with our entire family and a ton of friends definitely cushions the breakup with the Holy City. We’ve had an amazing almost ten years living here, and have so many memories that will be cherished forever (and could possibly bring us back one day, who knows!?!) We got married down here, brought our sweet baby boy into this world, and have met some of the most amazing friends that I consider family. We’ll always be connected to this magical place because of that, and of course beautiful historic downtown and the beach…my ultimate happy place!

The hubby starts his new job soon, so we’ve been house hunting (which is way more fun than I expected) and also going through our entire house (NOT quite as fun…seriously how have we accumulated so much stuff after only 4 years?!?#hoarders JUST KIDDING- totally not on that level!! Promise!) Needless to say, house organization and planning has taken up a chunk of time lately. Blogging makes me super happy and is also a stress reliever/outlet for me, so now that the initial shock has worn off about this major life change…I’ll be getting back in my groove!  Please keep us in your thoughts as we make this move over the next few months! Send good vibes our way!
Let’s dive into my July Birchbox and ipsy. Once again, the goods were stacked!

We’ll start with Birchbox!
July Birchbox

  • They’re Real Mascara- Benefit Cosmetics – Soooo I’ve said this before, but I’m really picky about my mascara. This formula passes my thickness test,  it delivers great instant volume, BUT I don’t think I like the lash brush. I prefer a curved brush with really long bristles that I feel really grabs my lashes from root to tip. This wand has short, hard bristles, however it does have this really cool spiky ball type shape at the end that was convenient to fan out my outer lashes and add a little more oomph to the tips (they included that tip on the info card.) I also prefer a mascara with a primer included ( I told you I was picky! Wow, I sound so high maintenance right now haha!), so tbh, this product was not quite a home run for me.  Full size: $24 // My rating: 6/10
  • Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel–  I was skeptical at first about putting a gooey black liquid all over my face, but obviously had to put my fears aside in the name of reviews and beauty blogging! It smells really good, although I can’t exactly pinpoint what it smells like! (No help there, sorry!) One thing is certain, it left my skin feeling SO smooth and nourished. As far as the “zap” power it claims to have, I can’t really attest to that…however, my skin felt very fresh and clean. Full size: $20// My rating: 8/10
  • Curl Keeper by Curly Hair Solutions – After I gave birth to my son, my curls changed and I found that this product managed the frizz really well despite the Charleston inferno, however, it didn’t do much to hold/style my crazy, unruly curls. The second time I used it, I combined it with the Briogeo Curl Charisma Gel from my ipsy glam bag and that combo worked really well for my hair! Yippie! This may just be the magic combo for me from here on out. If you have naturally even, pretty curls but have issues with frizz, this is your product! It’s a really lightweight, water-like solution and doesn’t leave your hair stiff. Full size: $10-$17.50 //My rating: 8/10
  • LOC Ultra-Gloss Lip Pencil- Cupid’s Bow – I normally don’t wear lipstick quite this bright, BUT this is a really fun color and had some serious long-lasting staying power. I also like that it feels  like chapstick on your lips and very nourishing. Smooth formula, easy application, no smearing or smudging, fun girlie hot pink color…thanks Birchbox for forcing me to wear lipstick outside the box! (get it, birchBOX…haha I need to just stop🙈) Available in 5 colors (all really bold and fun!) Full size: $12 (GREAT price)// My rating: 10/10
  • Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil – I’m going to be honest…at first, I wasn’t really sure what this was really all about. I have never used an oil like this for my face besides an oil primer from a previous box/glam bag. This is different…anytime you feel your face is thirsty or needs some hydration, think of this as a refresher. It features seven essential oils, smells like heaven, and gave my skin a really pretty glow. I used it on my cheekbones, but with a rollerball application, it’s convenient enough for any part of your face or neck. It’s paraben free and eco-conscious with minimal to no preservatives. I’m not sure this is a necessity for my everyday routine, but it smells amazing and is a nice pick-me-up when your skin feels drab! Full size: $38// My rating: 6/10

Moving right along to ipsy!
july ipsy glam bag

  • Briogeo Curl Charisma Frizz Gel – I’ve received this before from Birchbox and loved it, so I was excited to get this again in my glam bag this month! Like I said in my Birchbox review, I’ve been using this with the Curl Keeper and it’s a really good combo for my hair. This gel has a creamy texture and gives nice body and style to my waves and curls. Frizz is always a struggle for me, especially during the summer months, so along with using it on my damp hair, I’ll run a small dime size over my hair if I see that it’s actin a fool! It smells soooo good (must be the rice amino, tomato fruit and quinoa), and I’ve really enjoyed using it again! Full size: $20// My rating: 9/10
  • Too Faced Hangover RX Face Primer – You may think I’m crazy, but I swear my skin felt instantly more firm and alive. This may just be the fountain of youth in primer form…well at least a temporary fixer! This pure goodness is a base primer filled with probiotic based ingredients and skin revivers, coconut water (which is magical anyway), and is also silicone free. I applied it mainly around my eye area and very quickly felt a change in my skin.  Too Faced has been my go-to for eyeshadow palettes forever, and I was excited to try another product from their line. This is a product I would definitely recommend. It would be great to have if you need an early morning boost for an important meeting to have your best face forward (literally), for a school project or presentation, or just if you drank a little too much last night and feel like you look like you never went to bed. OR even if you’re an insomniac like me and need it for everyday use! Struggle is real! Full size: $32// My rating: 10/10
  • Luxie Small Angle Brush – LOVE this brush. I’ve wanted one just like this for a while, so I was thrilled to find that ipsy saved the day! I use it to even out my eyeliner and extend to make a wing. The brush is super soft, yet controllable enough to create a really sleek line. I’ve also used it with eyeshadow on my lower lash line for a smoky eye effect. It’s definitely a must-have in your brush collection! I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far, and have no idea how I lived without it for so long! Regular price: $10 (another GREAT price)// My rating: 10/10
  • Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Lauren – This black matte eyeliner is ahhhmazing! For every purchase of a Thrive product, they give to a woman in need. Their platform is: Beauty with a Purpose. They donate to women going through cancer treatment I love discovering companies that make a difference and give back. The eyeliner is vegan, cruelty-free, without parabens or sulfates, and dermatologist + ophthalmologist tested and approved! It’s also made with shea butter, which is a huge factor in the smooth application. It comes in 5 colors, and you can customize shipping to deliver just once or as often as needed! I definitely commend them for not only having quality products, but to stand behind their heartfelt mission to help and give back to women who are undergoing cancer treatments. Regular price: $22// My rating: 10/10
  • OFRA lipliner in Maya – This is such a pretty berry color. I have been pairing it with my favorite Nars lipstick- Anna. This lipliner is water-resistant and can also be used as an eyeliner! It comes in 16 different colors and all of them are so rich and bold in color. It’s created with synthetic beeswax, so it’s no surprise that it’s smooth and long-lasting! It’s the bee’s knees! (I’m sorry, I had to…it was right there!) Regular price: $13// My rating: 10/10

Well folks, that’s a wrap for my July review of Birchbox and ipsy Glam Bag! I’m getting back on the blog saddle and I’m pumped to take you along on my crazy moving adventure!!

OH! Don’t forget- The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still in full swing! Items are getting restocked daily, so keep checking back if you missed out on a few of your favorites that may have sold out! It ends Sunday, so you still have time to shop! You can find my favorites and top picks in my blog post here: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale . I’ll be posting later this week with a few looks for fall AND the perfect dress for layering! (If you follow me on Instagram *@styledsugarplum*, you’ve already seen a sneak peek!) Here are a few of my faves:

PS- this is totally off topic BUT who watched The Bachelorette finale???? Ah! *SPOILER ALERT in case you haven’t watched*  I knew Jordan would win, he was my top pick from the beginning! The proposal totally made me cry (as usual…I’m such a sap!) and took me back to when my boo thang proposed to me! I’m going to watch Bachelor in Paradise tonight (my first time ever watching) and I feel like it’s going to be a train wreck! Train wreck= great reality TV…so this should be good! 👏

Have a great Wednesday and I’ll be back later this week! Until next time✌️| Stay styled, sugarplum!💋

Hey guys! Hope you’ve had a great week! It’s been another busy one around here, but next week I promise I’m going to get back in the swing of things! I’m so excited that summer is “officially” here, even though it has felt like summer in Charleston for almost two months now! I had a photoshoot Tuesday night with Jennifer Collins (@jcollinsphotog on Insta) and Liz Martin (@charlestonweekender.) Both of these lovely ladies are the true definition of a “Girl Boss”! We had a BLAST showing off some goodies from several local retailers at Mixon Raquet and Bath Club in Park Circle in North Charleston. Such a cool area with a retro vibe. I don’t want to give too much away, so be on the lookout for those pics in a future blog post! Also, I’ve added a ✨SUMMERSHOP✨ section to the menu, so make sure to check it out! It’s a running tab of summer styles I’m currently crushing! Let’s get down to business though, because per usual, Birchbox and ipsy did WORK and I loved this month’s items.

*Sidenote before I dive in to my reviews…How cute is this “come sail away” hat by BP at Nordstrom?!? I can’t wait to sport it at the beach this weekend! It’s floppy, fun, super chic and on-trend, and it’ll be perfect to shield my face from the sun! Some of the designer ribbon hats I’ve seen can cost in the hundreds, so I was super excited to find a dupe for ONLY $26!

Let’s start with Birchbox!

image

    • Ardency Inn MODSTER Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in Black– I was excited to try this because black is my go-to eyeliner color. It glides on smooth and is very blendable if you want to shape it differently for wings or a smoky eye. I’ve used it for a few days now, and I’ve noticed that it also doesn’t smudge. I’ve spent hours outside in the heat and it has passed the test! Full size is $20 and that is a very reasonable price for a quality eyeliner like this. My rating: 10/10
    • Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel– Okay, so I have issues with my eyebrows. I had a waxing “accident” my senior year of high school (seriously like a billion years ago, but long story short: I tried to wax my eyebrows myself and smooshed the wax all over and well…waxed off all my eyebrows at the same time…I’m still really not even sure how that happened but I drowned myself in tears for an entire weekend figuring out how to draw eyebrows to look semi-normal.) Weirdly enough, my eyebrows have *sadly* never been the same.  So, I fill them in with a pencil BUT this product is super cool and I’ve found that it has taken my eyebrows to the next level (It’s a miracle!) I’ve been using it before my pencil to give my existing eyebrows a head start (they are a light brown/blonde color) and this gives them instant definition. The small comb-like applicator is useful for brushing the eyebrows upward to set the brow and then the gel gives a deeper brown color. I still go back through to define shape with the pencil, but I really like this and will most likely order the full size. Benefit has launched an entire new line of 9 different brow products that are total game changers! Full size $24// My rating: 10/10
    • Evologie Intensive Blemish Serum– I’ve received this before and it does zap blemishes without drying out your skin. However, it says it also helps with scars and hyperpigmentation. I’m not sure that I’ve used it enough yet to see any results there, but I do like the serum. The full size is $35 and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t pay that much for it because blemish control isn’t one of my top priorities when it comes to skin care. My rating: 7/10
    • Laura Gellar New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator– Gilded Honey- Love me some Laura Gellar! IN FACT, I mentioned this exact product in my blog post:5 Makeup Bag Must-Haves I currently use the color Ballerina, but the gilded honey has more of a bronze finish and will be great for tan summer skin. It’s super creamy and I love to apply to my cheekbones and T zone for a sunkissed, fresh look. Full size $26// My rating: 10/10
    • Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray– This stuff is liquid gold. I have  used a TON of hair products in my day (my MIL is a stylist and always has me trying things for my review and opinions), and this spray is MONEY. First off, it smells amazingggg…a sweet fruity, fresh smell. It doesn’t leave your hair oily, which I really appreciate because there are several “texturizing” sprays that just leave your hair looking and feeling oily, waxy, and dirty gross instead of defining your style. I haven’t used this product on straightened hair, BUT I’ve used it on my naturally curly hair and hair that has been blow dried and curled with a  wand. It works exceptionally well for the curly looks, even gave it volume and is super long lasting for smoothness.  I will most definitely be purchasing the full size when this runs out. This is one of my new faves for sure! ,Full size $44 for 8.5oz and $22 for 2.2oz (rather expensive but I believe it’s worth it and also such a better deal to go ahead and get the large size.) My rating:10/10

Moving on to ipsy!

image

    • Bio Republic Fiber Masks in Pomegranate Crush and Cucumber Breeze– The Cucumber Breeze mask smells amazing and left my skin feeling really hydrated, moisturized, and soft. It was very relaxing too, even though I always feel like a freak show in those masks! (You know you do, too!) The pomegranate mask is more so to rejuventate and awaken your pores and also smells amazing. I love these and always enjoy doing at-home facials and feeling like I’m at the spa! Full size $15 for set of 3 // My rating: 10/10
    • Klorane Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover with Soothing Cornflower– Usually, I use face wipes and then my regular cleansing routine to remove my makeup. I never really use remover specifically for eyes, but this stuff was THE magic eraser. I used the teeny tiniest dab on a cotton ball and it completely erased my eye makeup in one swipe. I kid you not! It blew my mind and it’s pretty awesome! This trial size is seriously going to last forever. This is a product I would definitely purchase again for stubborn waterproof makeup. Full size $24 // My rating: 10/10
    • Doucce Boombastic Volumizer Mascara– I’m on the fence with this one. I’m super picky about mascara (I’ve mentioned that a few times in other reviews), and although I like the way this brush separates and defines my lashes…the formula doesn’t give me enough oomph and drama. I didn’t feel it gave me enough volume to be considered a volumizer mascara. Just being honest! Full size $24 //My rating: 5/10
    • Julie G Nail Polish in Tropical– This is SUCH a cute color! Perfect bright turquoise green for summer. Me likey and I would definitely recommend. I applied an OPI Base Coat, then two coats of Tropical, then Essie Gel Setter to finish the look. It gives a great pop of color. I’ll probably be rockin it after July 4 (I’ve already got my mani/pedi colors set for July 4…so guess who my guinnea pig was? That’s right, my hubby. He did NOT enjoy getting one hand painted in Tropical BUT he was a good sport (kinda…I had to bribe him with craft beer…) Full size $3.99 //My rating: 9/10
    • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony: matte eyeshadow palette – This color is called Matt Moskowitz (each color is named Matt *insert last name*.) It’s a really pretty deep purple matte, velvety finish eyeshadow that is included in a palette of 8 other colors. All of the colors from this particular palette are rich, however very versatile for everyday use. I’m using this color on my brow bone and extending outward and up (almost like a brow “wing”) to add more definition and create the illusion of extended lashes. Full size $34.50 //My rating: 10/10

I hope you enjoyed this month’s products- if I had to choose my top picks from each I’d say the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray takes the cake from Birchbox (seriously perfect for summer hair) and the BioRepublic masks were my faves from ipsy. OH!…and don’t forget to check out the SUMMERSHOP Menu before you go!
What are your plans this weekend? My hubby and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary by having a kid-free beach day (whaaaaat!?! Hasn’t happened in years) and then checking out a new restaurant downtown for date night! Can’t wait to share details with you next week! I hope you have a fabulous weekend and I’ll catch you on the flipside! Cheers!
Until next time✌️| Stay styled, sugarplum!💋

Hear ye! Hear ye! The future of hair care is upon us!!!

Happy Hump Day peeps! I hope you’ve had a fantastic week so far! I am so so so excited to introduce you to Function of Beauty. They contacted me a few weeks ago and I was super excited to have the opportunity to try and review their products! First of all, let me give you a little bit of information about the company. Function of Beauty is a fairly new company that is revolutionizing the beauty space by creating truly customized hair care products. Each shampoo and conditioner is uniquely formulated (by robots…what!) according to your hair profile and needs. They have been featured in Vogue, CNBC, the Today Show, and more! They are taking the beauty market by storm and I totally understand why after using it for two weeks. The company was founded by a MIT computer scientist, a MIT engineer, and a cosmetic chemist who developed proprietary (magic) algorithms and robotic machines to create millions of formulations to address all hair types and concerns. Function of Beauty’s goal is to celebrate your individuality through the creation of products made uniquely for you. Their products are formulated with natural ingredients, NEVER tested on animals, and are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, GMOs, and triclosan. ( To be honest, I don’t even know what some of that means BUT it sounds scary and I’m glad it’s not in my hair products! Ha!)
FullSizeRender (65)

Here’s how it works:
First, you’ll complete your hair profile. You’ll take a little quiz and give info about your hair, goals, and preferences. The *magical* algorithms (with 450 million different formulations) will determine an exact formula for your personalized shampoo and conditioner. For my hair, I specified that it was a curly type, with medium hair structure, and normal scalp moisture. Next, you’ll select 5 hair goals from a list of 17… choices such as: thermal protection, volumize, oil control, curl definition, anti-frizz, deep condition and strengthen, just to name a few. I chose to lengthen, volumize, and anti-frizz (I need all the help I can get with that one! EESH!) Next, you’ll customize your formulas with your name (which will be on the bottle…I find to be very cool and a great detail), the color you’d like your shampoo and conditioner, and fragrance. They have 6 different fragrances to choose from and ALL of them sound amazing. A few of the options are: Cucumber Mint, White Tea Jasmine, and Sandalwood Violet…I chose the Passion Fruit Papaya (which smells like tropical heaven in a bottle.) Lastly, you choose your size (8oz or 16oz) and then go to checkout! BOOM! You can also chat with a chemist at any point during that process if you have any questions about the ingredients or products in general.
A few days later, I received my shipment…
FullSizeRender (63)
Inside was also an info card with deets all about my shampoo and conditioner!
It reviews my hair profile, gives a detailed ingredient list, and then also provides a personalized regimen for maximum results based on my hair profile and the goals I specified.

I have to say, after 2 weeks of use, I’m impressed. The overall feel of my hair is much smoother even when I let it dry curly. I can definitely tell a difference in the texture. I haven’t been using my normal frizz serum because I wanted to test to see if it was actually working. Good news: it’s passing my test! I have less fly-aways with more balance in my overall texture. As far as lengthening goes, I know that will take time. My hair grows slower than a snail’s pace, BUT I have faith that this personalized formula will help with that, seeing how it managed to tame my normally frizzy mane. I’ve noticed more volume too, especially when I let it dry curly. I’ve only worn it straight once and although it had more volume than normal, humidity did take its toll and it began to curl up. Maybe after the summer humidity calms down, I’ll switch one of my hair goals to the straighten option. That’s another perk of this entire process… if you find that your shampoo and conditioner isn’t working for you or you want to focus on something different, you can reformulate at any time. It’s also very reasonably priced…8 oz is $13 per bottle and 16oz is $19 per bottle. You cannot… I repeat, cannot find premium hair products for that price. And certainly not hair care that’s formulated from top to bottom for your exact needs! I urge you to try it beacause you may just find your new favorite hair product! It’s also a really nifty gift idea! Definitely check out their website: Function of Beauty

Until next time✌️|Stay styled, sugarplum!💋

Hi y’all! Hope you’ve had a fun weekend! We had a busy one, that’s for sure! Friday was my cousin’s graduation from dental school! Free dental care for life! Woohoo! (Just kidding…maybe?!?) We went to his grad party after and it was so nice to have all our family here to celebrate his amazing accomplishments! Yesterday, we went to the beach- FINALLY summer weather is here! It’s my favorite time of year and makes my heart so happy! My son is at a really fun age now, too… (although it’s quite the workout for us…which is probably a good thing!)…he’s exploring, collecting shells, chasing seagulls, jumping waves, playing soccer and throwing the frisbee (which we sadly lost yesterday in the ocean, oops!) Regardless of our frisbee sacrifice, it was a successful beach day!

Speaking of sun and fun, there were several products in my May Birchbox and ipsy that were really useful for the beach and for skin care after soaking in the rays! This time of year, I really start thinking about how I can preserve my makeup and hair in the crazy Charleston heat, and protect my skin from the harsh summer elements. BIRCHBOX:

FullSizeRender (47)

    • Bumble and bumble. Thickening Hairspray- I actually just ran out of hairspray, so this couldn’t have arrived at a better time! I can’t stand when hairspray leaves your hair crunchy, but I don’t want to sacrifice hold. This thickening formula was very effective for my unruly hair type and held my loose waves all day for my cousin’s graduation festivities. After curling my hair with my Nume Classic Wand, I held my head upside down and sprayed the underside of my hair, flipped back upright, and then sprayed the sides and styled normally. It left my hair feeling soft and stood the test of Charleston humidity (and we were outside almost all day!) Now that’s impressive. Full-size $29 My rating 10/10

Get it here>>Bumble and bumble Thickening Hairspray

    • Model Co Lip Lacquer in Viva- I’ve received this in a darker color from a previous box, and I really love the smooth formula…however, this color doesn’t match up with the yellow pigment in my skin. Not my favorite color! However, I did combine it with the lipstick I received from ipsy this month and it actually works much better for my skin color! When life hands you lemons, combine it with lipstick- well, that’s kinda gross…but you get where I’m going with it haha! I’m glad I figured out a way to use this, though because I do like the lacquer itself! So, final verdict: love the lip lacquer- not a fan of the color. Full- size (you get a Trio set)$16 My rating: 5/10 (just bc of this particular color)

Shop other colors here>> Model Co Lip Lacquer

    • Real Chemistry Luminous 3- Minute Peel for Body- Okay, I’m really glad I got this! This was perfect after a long afternoon at the beach to rejuvenate my skin with a good scrub. It’s also paraben, sulfate, phthalate free, and never tested on animals. Bravo! You massage the peel gel on whatever section you’d like to treat (I used it on my arms and legs), and massage into your skin. It will begin to harden, which means it’s working, and then just rinse off with the dead skin. It’s a really concentrated formula, so definitely too harsh for your face. Perfect for your body though! The scent was grapefruity and was extremely refreshing! I enjoyed it and wish I had more! Full- size $34 My rating 10/10

Get it here>> Real Chemistry Body Peel

    • Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50- This was really helpful before the beach. Most of the time, I don’t wear makeup to the beach but yesterday, I had already been out and about with my face on! This is a setting mist for makeup that conveniently has SPF 50, perfect for protecting your face and your makeup. It has a slight rosemary scent (which I love), and it feels very lightweight on your face. It doesn’t feel oily either, so this could be perfect to set your makeup for an outdoor wedding, concert, picnic, date, you name it! Full-size $28 My rating 10/10

    • W3LL PEOPLE Bio Correct Multi- Action Concealer in Light- I’m really picky about concealers. Some leave your skin cakey and feel too thick- I can’t roll like that! This was a surprisingly nice find. I used it for under my eyes, and it goes on really smooth while providing GREAT coverage. Dark circles be GONE! This stuff was magic. I’m probably going to end up ordering the full size because it held up throughout the day, and left my skin feeling really smooth! Me likey! Full size $22.50 (well worth it!) My rating 10/10

  • it Cosmetics No Tug Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black- I’ve used waterproof mascara, but never waterproof eyeliner. I was excited to try this one considering how much I love it Cosmetics. It’s super easy to apply and BOY does it last. The waterproof formula is extremely effective. I got water in my eyes yesterday at the beach and rubbed them not remembering I had makeup on… I didn’t have waterproof mascara on, so I ended up taking that off with ocean water (so fun…NOT), but my eyeliner stayed put…no signs of smearing or smudging! I’ll definitely be using this again if I feel like looking glam at the beach…however next time, I’ll have to remember to use waterproof mascara along with it! Full-size $22 My rating 10/10

  • Mellow Matte Lipstick in Nude- This is a great everyday color! It gives you just a bit of color for a really natural lip. This is the lipstick that I combined with the gloss from Birchbox for a really pretty combo! I like the matte finish and it’s long lasting capabilities. It stayed on for hours before I felt like it needed reapplying! Full-size $13 My rating 10/10

  • INSPR Beauty Eye Fluff Brush- This brush is super soft and great for blending. I used it on my upper lids to add a bit more dimension with a darker shadow color under my brow bone. I love makeup brushes, and although with proper cleaning they’ll last a while…at some point, you’ll have to replace them. This may be my next eye shadow go-to. I like the really long handle for full control, too. Regular price $12 My rating 10/10

  • Hanalei Lip Treatment-  My lips get so dry this time of year and this product has been AMAZING. I’ve used it everyday since I received it, and it’s by far my favorite new product from ipsy this month. It uses kukui oil, which is known to moisturize and rejuvenate dry lips, along with agave, shea butter and grape seed oil. It’s also paraben and cruelty free! It has a very slight sweet smell to it and tastes REALLY good. My new summer fave- I have a feeling it will totally  save my lips! Full-size $25 My rating 10/10

  • Vasanti Brighten UP! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator- I’ve received this before in Birchbox and almost purchased the full-size, so I was really excited to receive another travel size! It uses 99% natural ingredients, is paraben and sulfate free, and has a triple action formula to brighten and soften your skin! Great product for exfoliating your face after the beach! It’s like a little microdermabrasion facial, but the simplicity of a face wash you can use daily in the shower.  I’m probably going to end up pulling the trigger when I finish the travel size and get the full-size. It has a light fruity smell to it also…a great combo with the grapefruit body peel I reviewed in Birchbox! Full-size $34 My rating 10/10

Okay, sooooooo another month where I liked mostly EVERYTHING I received. I’m a harsh critic, but with quality products like this…it’s hard to nitpick! I hope you found this review helpful and possibly found some new summer must-have products for the beach, pool, and outdoor fun!
One summer must-have that I tested out yesterday are these Jack Rogers sandals. The blush/platinum color is on sale for under $30, and they’re perfect for the beach- they’re so easy to clean without having to forgo style! A total WIN! You can purchase here>> Jack Rogers Georgica Jellies
