Hey y’all! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! We had serious quality family time, and it was wonderful! My son had his last soccer practice Saturday, which was adorable! They finally played a scrimmage against the other three and four year old team, and to say it was entertaining would be an understatement. My cheeks still hurt from smiling and laughing so much! Then last night, I saw Beauty and the Beast with a friend of mine! It was Disney perfection. Total magic…no lie. It was my favorite Disney movie growing up, so I knew going in that I’d love it! It far exceeded my expectations and Emma Watson was THE perfect Belle (girl crush!) I’ve been talking about it non-stop on social media, because I seriously can’t control my excitement. I’m going to attempt to scale back to finish this post though, so here we go. I’ve actually been trying to get this post up for a few weeks, but I’ve been writing and sharing other posts, (slack!) After two weeks of neglect, I FINALLY want to dish some of my March Beauty faves. Some of these are old school must-haves from my makeup bag, and some are new additions. Regardless of when they joined the pack, these are my favorite beauty baes in rotation at the moment!

1. iT Cosmetics Sunshine in a Compact: This has been my jam for about 100 years now. Or maybe just 3, but this bronzer is my absolute favorite. The shade I use is Warmth (it’s the universal color) and it gives such a perfect sun-kissed color. It’s a talc-free matte formula that treats your skin with anti-aging peptides, collagen, and antioxidants. I use it on my cheeks, forehead, and around my jawline…sometimes even down my neck to blend. Some bronzers can seem cakey and heavy…not this one. It is lightweight and so silky smooth.

2. iT Cosmetics Brow Power: So, I was a 90s kid… therefore I overplucked my eyebrows. The two went hand-in-hand. If I had only known then that they would NEVER grow back properly, I would have banished my tweezers forever. BUT, that wasn’t the case, and now I’m stuck filling them in every single day. I discovered this Brow Power in an ipsy bag a while back and since then, I haven’t used or even LOOKED for any other brow pencil. The color is called “universal” and it is the best. Everyone is always so surprised when I tell them I have to fill my brows! I attempt to make them appear as natural as possible, given their sad circumstance.

3. Too Faced- Better Than Sex Mascara: I also discovered this mascara in an ipsy bag a while back and it quickly became one of my all time favorite mascaras. The formula is collagen-fueled and leaves my lashes plump and well, va-va-voom. I have always been a sucker for a good mascara, and I have tried hundreds. This one ranks up in the top 3 for sure. The shape of the brush grips my lashes and leaves them full bodied and lengthened. I highly recommend! So along with this one…I also use L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara. I’m obsessed with this primer. This mascara is double sided, so one side is primer, and the other mascara. I like to use this mascara to separate any clumpy lashes. It’s also great for applying on the top side of your lashes, since the brush head is more streamlined than the Too Faced one I also use. When these forces combine, it’s pure mascara magic! *TIP: It suggests to apply the mascara while the primer is still wet, but I don’t really follow that. I usually let it dry for a hot second, because I feel the mascara adheres to the lashes better and builds more body. Both are listed below.

4. Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten in Apricot Berry: This is a new addition to my routine. So, for my face, I use my foundation, iT cosmetics bronzer, Marc Jacobs Beauty Blush, AND THEN this product on my cheekbones, down the ramp of my nose, and around the frame of my face. This is basically the cherry on top of my face makeup routine. It adds both a really pretty berry color and a highlighting sheen. It has an incredibly silky consistency, is paraben free, and also contains anti-oxident ingredients. I love all of her products, I’ve never had any issues with quality or satisfaction. You could use this as a blush alone, or as a final touch like I do!

5.NARS Audacious Lipstick- ANNA: I raved about this lipstick a while back in a blog post that I wrote about a few of my favorite things. Well, it’s still at the top of my list one year later. This color is absolutely gorgeous. It’s one of my favorites to wear on a daily basis, and is always in my purse. It’s gives your lips just the right amount of rosy color.  The formula is so smooth and creamy, it’s like velvet on your lips. AND it’s available in 35 colors! It is a bit more than what I would normally spend on lipstick, but I guarantee that it’s worth it!

6. NYX Cream Highlight & Contour Palette: This is a new addition to my routine, and I have to admit…I’m still trying to master the art of contouring. The first time I tried it, tbh, I looked like I rolled around in mud…so so bad. I wanted to try a contour palette, but didn’t want to break the bank. I searched online for highly rated palettes, but then I stumbled across this one at Target and really like this brand. I gave it a shot, and although I’m still mastering the skill…the palette itself was surprisingly high quality considering the price (only $15!) I really like the 3 shades and they compliment each other so beautifully. There’s a really pretty shimmer to the highlighter, and the cream formula is lightweight. It’s a great long lasting formula, too! I think this is a great starter palette if you’re looking to expand to the world of contouring! That same day, I purchased this e.l.f Contouring Brush (which is a steal for only $6!) Like I mentioned, I’m still mastering the actual application process, BUT this brush is awesome! The shape of the bristles helps you control and blend. I need to watch about a hundred more YouTube contouring videos, but I’m determined to get this, y’all! Stay tuned! Shop both below.

7. Heavenly Skin Bye Bye Pores Powder Brush: This may seem like a TON to spend on a brush. It’s $58. I totally get it. BUT, it’s a skincare infused brush. (Ummm…what does that mean?) So, the patent-pending hair bristles are infused with anti-aging collagen, silk, peptides, niacin, and antioxidents. The makes application seem as flawless as the fairy godmother’s magic wand. Not kidding. It’s my favorite brush ever. I use it for bronzer, although it can be used for loose or pressed powders. This brush was developed by plastic surgeons and dermatologists, so it’s the real deal y’all! The experts have spoken! It also has some weight to it, so it’s really easy to control for perfect, flawless application every time. It’s like the Rolls-Royce of brushes.

8. iT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush #7: Last but not least, my other favorite brush on the planet. I love that it’s dual sided, because I feel like I’m getting more bang for my buck. It’s another rather pricey one, but well worth it for the airbrush application effect. The details suggest to use it for foundation and concealer…I use the larger side for my blush (like the Laura Geller baked blush I mentioned above), and the smaller side for the base color for my eyeshadow. This brush is so versatile though, that I’m sure you could use it with a ton of different products, and it would give you amazing results no matter what. I also love that the brush is 100% cruelty free and has vegan bristles.

I hope you enjoyed my rundown of my current makeup faves! This week I’m bringing you a fashion post on some items in my shopping cart. Or more accurately, in transit in a box at the UPS processing center…haha! I hope you have a great week!

Happy blogiversary to me!!! Friday marked the one year anniversary that I launched Styled Sugarplum!! Yay!!! Over the past few months, I shifted my focus on the blog from strictly fashion and beauty to more of a lifestyle blog, including food tips with my plant-based journey and sharing tidbits of my life. I want to continue with this because Styled Sugarplum has evolved just as I have in my personal life. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for riding along on this blogging journey with me and I can’t wait to see where it take us over the next year! I’m so grateful for all the wonderful blogger friends and people I’ve met along the way and the opportunities that have knocked at my door. Blogging has really opened a world that I never knew existed and it gives me so much joy. It’s a great outlet for me, which is why I want to continue to share more of my life as I grow with it.  To celebrate my one year blogiversary, I thought I would tell you a little more about ME with ten random facts! One of my goals for the next year of blogging is to let down my walls a bit more and share more of what makes me, well… me! I also hope to get to know you more over the course of the next year!

Here goes nothin’ ⬇️

1️⃣My world revolves around my hubs and babylove. I don’t talk about them much on my here, but I would be lost without them. My hubby (Brandon) and I have been together for 14 years and will celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary in June. Our son Lawson was born in 2013 and completes us!
2️⃣ I danced ballet for over 20 years of my life. My favorite role was the Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker- this was the inspiration for my blog name. My mom purchased my custom made tutu as a gift to me so I’d always have it. (If I could only fit in it now!!! #dreamworld Haha!) I taught dance for 7 years after I stopped dancing and loved every minute of it. I miss it and it’s definitely something I want to get back into soon. At the moment, I’m back in school to get my teaching degree. I’m thinking of specializing in speech pathology, although I’m not 100% on it yet! I love working with children, so teaching is definitely where my heart is!
3️⃣I love rap and hip hop music- it all started with discovering the Life After Death album from Biggie in the 7th grade. People are always so surprised by this because I’m a little prim and proper[ish] southern mama, but I LOVE it. I’m not too crazy about some of the current stuff, but late 90s to 2010ish was the jam. I still know every word to basically anything and everything during that time frame.
4️⃣I’m an organizational junkie to a fault and will spend forever getting something juuuuust right. I love to help friends and family organize their homes, closets, you name it. I thought about creating a side business (which I may still do) because I enjoy it so much.
5️⃣I didn’t enjoy cooking until about 4 months ago and now I’m a self proclaimed master chef. Well, idk about master chef status, but watching all those cooking shows sure is paying off! 👩‍🍳Watch out Gordon Ramsey! I’m still working on my kitchen creativity, but it’s definitely come a long way!
6️⃣ If I could live off eating only cheese, I would. 🐭🧀 That’s one thing I miss dearly from living a plant-based life. During cheat days- it’s ON. Cheese dip at the Mexican restaurant doesn’t stand a chance. (Neither do the margaritas!)
7️⃣I have flown a plane. I took flying lessons after my high school graduation. Coolest gift ever. Like EVER. I’m fearless when it comes to heights and on that note: I’m a total roller coaster junkie. I will seriously ride any kind of roller coaster out there. ANYTHING. I did bungee jump once, but I haven’t gone skydiving. My hubby is the complete opposite- total fear of heights. We always go to theme parks in a group because he won’t ride them. We are thinking of doing a kid-free trip to Universal for our 5 year anniversary and he will have to ride with me. Maybe he’ll overcome his fear this year?

8️⃣ I lived in Charleston, SC for nine years and that chapter is a huge part of my life. We recently relocated back to our hometown (about two hours away from Chas) because my hubby got a new job. Charleston holds so many dear memories to me. I got married there and had my son. I transitioned from my 20s to my 30s there and really found myself. I have some amazing friends there that I miss every single day and I loved the city as if it were a person. Charleston will always have a chunk of my heart and I can’t wait to visit again soon!

9️⃣ I am deathly afraid of spiders. Everyone knows this about me because I will FREAK if I see one. If it’s larger than a quarter, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll probably cry. I’m not kidding. I hate them. I once had a jumping spider in my car and I jumped out at a stoplight at one of the busiest intersections in Charleston. 🙈 Homie don’t play dat! It was beyond traumatic for me when the light turned green and I had to get back in and drive knowing IT was in there. Obviously I survived to tell the tale.
🔟 It took me 6 months to grow a pair and actually launch Styled Sugarplum and I’m so glad I did because it has been such a wonderful experience! Thank you again for following along and I look forward to many more years of blogging bliss!!

Have a great week and stay styled, sugarplum!!

Anyone else addicted to subscription boxes or is it just me? 🙈 There’s something so exciting about mystery mail. I’m not sure why I get so giddy about the anticipation of new products, but I am a self-proclaimed subscription junkie! I had to detox recently because things were getting out of control…so I researched to find one box that would fit all of my needs and feed the subscription box vices. I recently subscribed to the Pop Sugar must-have box because I really liked the wide range of items and variety they include in each month’s box. A little fashion, beauty, kid, kitchen, food, home…you get the picture! Every box has a general theme, which I think is really neat…March’s box was all about Spring Fever! I wouldn’t necessarily have picked these on my own, so I love discovering new products and brands! Just to give you an idea of price, it was $200 for a 6 month subscription and I used a promo code. In the scheme of things, that’s really not bad considering each box is valued at over $100. I believe that after the discount, it was basically like I received a box for free. Also, this is not a sponsored post…just my honest review!

I’m loving the pop of color in the vinyl bag from Stephanie Johnson. This is definitely not something I would have purchased for myself, but I really like the idea of using it for poolside and beach activities to ensure the contents stay dry. It’s also very structured, so I know the contents will be protected! This might even be a petfect camera bag! Vinyl is in, y’all! It retails at $45.
You can check out more of her line here: Stephanie Johnson I also really like how her website is categorized by bag shape and color…it’s very easy to find exactly what you need! I’m really impressed with the quality and always like to get a little funky with accessories. This is a win in my book!

Another item we will definitely be using on-the-go is the eco friendly lunch box from Sunny Life! They have a TON of cute products on their website from beach and pool necessities, hosting and entertaining accessories, candles, and kid-gear. They have some of the cutest games and toys for kids I’ve ever seen. I’m for real when I say this may be my new favorite company. They have such fun gift ideas, too! They even have pool floats and cool stuff for a BBQ. You have to check out their website and tell me what you think…for some reason it feels very nostalgic for me. Takes me back to the whimsy, bright colored memorabilia from being a kid. I know you’ll love it as much as I do! This lunch box is dishwasher safe and comes with a silicone band to hold it together. There’s also a flamingo version and one with a pineapple on it! Too cute! They retail at $18…Check it out here:Sunny Life

My little threenager is already eyeing the Smashmallows (shocker!) I won’t have too much mom guilt considering they’re organic and made with no artificial ingredients. They come in a ton of flavors, although this Cinnamon Churro one is BOMB. Talk about YUM! I tried it because I just had to and y’all. Seriously the best little treat on planet Earth. They’re only 80 calories per serving, so that’s not too bad either! A few of the other flavors are mint chocolate chip, toasted coconut pineapple, strawberries and cream, and espresso bean. They retail at $4 a bag…don’t say I didn’t warn you! Find more here:Smashmallows

Of course I love the Kate Spade photo album because I’m forever taking pictures. Seriously, I’ve always got my camera on me. Kate Spade can do no wrong, so I was really excited to see this album in my box. The neutral canvas and black polka dot design is so chic and cute. It will blend in a flow perfectly in any room. This is also a fantastic gift idea! Mother’s Day is coming up! This photo album holds 80 pictures and retails at $20. Find more here: Kate Spade

I first heard of Thrive Causemetics (yes, you read that correctly) from an ipsy bag a while back and absolutely love this company. That stand for women empowerment and with every purchase, they donate to women in need. The Brilliant Eye Brightener is a perfect addition to my summer makeup routine. I always tend to go with a bronze and neutral palette for my eyes and this will add just a little pop to brighten the corners and lower lashline. Find out more about this amazing company here: Thrive Causemetics

Before the Pop Sugar Box, I hadn’t heard of Velvet Eyewear. I was excited to get a $25 gift card though! I browsed their website and I’m really impressed with the variety of choices. They have three sections to their site: Trends, Optical, and Collection. The trends section features trendy glasses priced around $55, while the Collection page has more designer priced choices at around $170. I will definitely order a pair (because you can never have too many sunglasses, am I right?) and I’ll let you know my thoughts on my social media accounts! Shop their site here: Velvet Eyewear

Overall, I’m really impressed with this first box. I already received a “sneak peek” of next month’s box and I’m stoked! It contains a dipped bamboo cutting board from Morning Culture that can double as a serving platter. It is SO. CUTE. Can’t wait! If you’re interested in subscribing, check it out here: Pop Sugar Must Have Box

I’m also interested in doing the FabFitFun box so if you have any info or reviews on that one, let me know! Happy St Patrick’s day and have a great weekend! Stay styled, sugarplum!

Hey y’all! Happy Thursday eve! 🙌 I thought I’d share a really quick and easy Veggie Wrap recipe with you that’s healthy and great for on-the-go! Since I’ve been on my plant-based food journey, I sometimes struggle with feeling full and completely satisfied after meals. When I say struggle, I mean struggle.Okay okay, confession time: I’ve cheated a few times and eaten outside the parameters for a plant-based lifestyle, BUT it leaves me feeling extremely bloated and sluggish. Ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat! Since it’s such an extreme lifestyle change from how I’ve eaten in the past, I do doubt myself at times and question if I can even do it! This wrap is a more hearty and filling lunch option that will give you the energy to conquer your day and your evil food demons! Stay back!  It’ll definitely be a weekly staple for me now, especially considering it took a total of mayyyyyybe 5 minutes to prepare. I’ve been pinning like a maniac on Pinterest for recipes (find me here) and this was a discovery from my all too familiar late night pinning sessions… oh, the joys of insomnia!

In my opinion, hummus and avocado make the world a better place. That’s probably another reason why I’m raving about this veggie wrap… it has very simple ingredients, but is packed with so much flavor!

The full recipe is located below the pictures! Bon appetit!

Ingredients: (Makes two)
1 package microwavable rice *I used Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain Medley with brown and wild rice
whole wheat or gluten free tortillas
2 tbsp hummus
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup black beans
1/2 medium carrot *thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper *thinly sliced
1/2 english cucumber *thinly sliced
1/2 avocado *sliced

To Make:
-Cook rice according to package instructions.
-Warm tortilla in microwave (10-15 seconds)
-Spread hummus on entire tortilla (one tbsp per wrap)
-Layer spinach in a single layer to cover hummus
-Line up the rice and black beans in the center and then do the same on top of that with the avocado, peppers, carrots, and cucumbers
-Fold the edges of the tortilla and roll to make a burrito. If taking on-the-go, wrap in foil.

Told you it was easy! I’ll admit though…it’s not the prettiest thing to photograph after you’ve started eating it and on another note, I also realized I’m absolutely terrible at wrapping burritos. #selfdiscovery #burritofail I definitely have subpar wrapping skills and could never work at Moe’s…not that I could anyway because I’d lose all self control and drown myself to death eating queso all day. SO.GOOD. Amiright? But anyway, let me know if you make this or if you have any suggestions so I can further master my burrito skills! Practice makes perfect! Stay healthy, sugarplum! (and I’ll stay away from Moe’s queso!) Also, don’t forget to check out the Monthly Edit for March in the Menu! Lots of cute trends!

Hey y’all! Can you believe it’s MARCH already?!? I seriously can’t. Time is passing by SO fast and I need it to sloowwwww down so I can catch up! I’m really excited about this month’s Monthly Edit, but before I dive into that, I just want to catch you up on a few things! I’m going to try to stay on a better blog posting schedule and post every Wednesday. The blog is something that I’ve been slacking on lately and I miss it… *please forgive me!* If I can, I will post two times a week, but I’m going to stick to a schedule of every Wednesday for now. I’m actively posting almost daily on my Instagram account (find me here), so that’s also a great way to keep up with trends and styles I’m crushing on, along with different life happenings on the reg!

The biggest news from this week is that the LikeToKnowIt App launched. If you shop online quite a bit, then this is for you! If you’re unfamiliar with LikeToKnowIt or have never heard me talk about it, it’s the power and logistics behind how I link all of my products I share so that it’s shoppable for you. For example, if you follow me on Instagram and ‘like’ one of my pictures, if you’re signed up for LikeToKnowIt, you will automatically receive an email with direct product links so that you can shop what I’m wearing or any products I feature. Well, NOW you can download the app and it makes it WAY easier for you to shop because anytime you ‘like’ or even screenshot enabled pictures on Instagram (or Snapchat), it will automatically appear (within about 20 seconds) in the app for you to shop! It’s a faster process and you can keep all of your LTK likes and screenshots housed in one place. Basically, it’s the blogger mecca for online shoppers. I do 99% of my shopping online, so this was a TOTAL game changer for me. Plus, it’s fun to browse to get outfit inspo and discover new products! I highly recommend downloading it if this sounds like something up your alley! It’s available in the App Store on your phone! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the app or LTK in general!

Now, the Monthly Edit for March! Let’s start with two of the trends that I’m completely smitten with right now: embroidered jeans and slide-on mules. These two trends have blown UP over the last month and retailers have released so many style choices for us! Both trends really took the spotlight last summer and fall, but it was mostly in bomber jackets and peep toe block heeled mules. They have evolved for spring with the focus of embroidery on jeans (90s trend lives on) and the closed toe slide-on mule. Shop some of my favorites below!

Shop Jeans:

Shop Mules:

*My personal favorite: Blush Maddy Mule

Next, I’m loving ruffles and blush for Spring. Basically, this combo is the fashion world’s peanut butter and jelly. The Krissi cold-shoulder top from House of Fraser paired with the edgy embroidered jeans gives it a dressier and more romantic feel. It softens the entire look. Shop some of my faves below!

Shop Tops:

Up next, are statement earrings. Kate Spade and BaubleBar are slaying the game in accessories right now. The Kate Spade New York Taking Shapes Earring is bold with the dark enameled half moons, yet the pearls provide a dainty detail with each tier. Great mixture of edgy and sweet, much like the contrast of the embroidered jeans and ruffled top. There’s a method to the madness, y’all!
Shop Earrings:

Canteen/circle bags are such a fun accessory. The shape is unexpected with a vintage feel and it’s a twist on the saddle bag or hobo style crossbody. The Harper Crossbody by Aimee Kestenberg comes in four colors: yellow, cognac, white, and black. (The yellow is A-FREAKIN-DORABLE.) I really like the the tassel zipper and the woven chain detail.

Shop Bags:

Lastly, I’m leaving you with a fabulous pair of mirrored round sunnies. I absolutely love the BP brand from Nordstrom because they always have the cutest stuff for DIRT CHEAP. Yeah, I said it. BUT surprisingly, the quality is always fantastic! These sunnies are only $12 and available in two colors. (These are the Black/Pink) I’ve linked it below, but you can shop all the sunnies here: BP. Sunglasses Home Page

As always, you can find the permanent home for this post in the Monthly Edit Menu! Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day! See you next Wednesday when I’ll be dishing my March Makeup Faves! There are several new products that I’ve integrated into my daily routine and I’m giving deets on some of my tried and true staples- stay tuned for that post and stay styled, sugarplum!
