Hi lovelies! I hope you’re having a fab week! We have had gorgeous weather here in South Carolina (finallyyy) and I have really enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible.  Apparently, Spring was just fashionably late, you diva you! But for real…there is just something so refreshing and calming about the Spring air and sunshine on your skin.  So, as you may have seen if you follow me on Instagram, I recently started the BBG program from Kayla Itsines via the Sweat app. I am happy to report that after finishing week 1- I am feeling PUMPED to see where this fitness journey is going to lead me. I have to admit, I haven’t been this excited about working out in forever. It has always felt like a bit of a chore to me, but I really enjoy the circuit-style training and the diversity in exercises on the app. The weekly workouts alternate each day between strength training and cardio and at the end of the week is a scheduled rest day. There are also supplemental recovery workouts/stretches and extra challenges you can do on a day where you feel like you want to go hard.  I love that there are several different programs that hit every interest and skill level. I am currently doing Beginner BBG, and it will continue to advance as I gain the skills needed (cause burpies are hard AF haha). I also thrive on organization, so the app also allows you to plan out your weekly workouts, meals, and even provides suggested recipes and grocery lists that coordinate along with recipes you choose (that alone delights my little OCD heart). In addition to the workout program, I’m not adjusting my diet too much other than being more mindful of dairy, sugar, and carbs. I’m allowing myself cheese and bread (because I couldn’t live without it), but I’m just making sure I use appropriate portion control (cause tbh I could eat an entire cheese platter for breakfast, lunch, and dinner like a boss). Week 2 is going well so far too and it sounds ridiculous, but I already feel like I have more energy and stronger. One thing I’ve noticed is that because of the circuit style training, my muscles don’t feel maxed out and so sore that I can’t move the next day. There is an even distribution of pain (just kidding)! It has felt amazing to get back in the swing of things after not feeling like myself for the past 8 or so months.

After moving back back to our hometown, I really felt like I was in a slump and one thing I’ve realized is that I retract from my potential and nestle in my surrender when it comes to fitness. One thing that really gets me sometimes is body image. I’ve written about this before, but throughout my adulthood, I have struggled with body image. I danced ballet growing up and was naturally fit (dancing 5 or more days a week for hours on end will do that to ya), plus let’s face it…teenage metabolism is a magical thing (gimmie all the Chick-Fil-A). But as I got older, I have roller-coastered so many times from size to size that I’ve lost track. But here’s the thing. It’s not really about sizes, it’s about being healthy and balanced (mind and body). Starting the BBG program is my new beginning to shed this negativity, and DO ME. See, now here lies the problem where I get hung up on things…that sounds kinda selfish right? Imma do me. Guilt sinks in and I think, well I could do an activity with my son or take him to the park or my hubby and I could do something all together as a family. Here’s the catch…I cannot be myself if I don’t feel like myself. Have you ever experienced just not feeling like YOU? You always hear people say self-care is not selfish, but it’s definitely easier said than done…and that’s something that I’m actively working on. I am trying to prioritize my time so that I am getting my workouts in when it doesn’t interfere with family time, but if it does- that’s okay. It’s not selfish.
Starting this program is more than just a personal quest to be fit and find balance (although that is a big part of it)…I’m doing this for my family. I’m doing this to be the healthiest version of myself so that I can do everything with them and not miss a moment. I’m also doing this for me…to feel comfortable in my own skin and quit playing the compare game to my high school ballerina body. I read a quote from Kayla that really hit me, “You will never regret reaching your goal. You will only regret giving up and not trying harder.” This is so simple and so true. I am more motivated now than ever to reach my goals, and the only regret I have is not starting sooner. I hope that if you’re on the fence about taking time for yourself or feel any guilt what-so-ever about working on your fitness and doing the dang thang… let it go. You are worth being a top priority and today can be your new beginning.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!

Hey girl hey! Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday! I wanted to write a quick post to share some Spring staples that I am eyeing right now! I think these items are great transition pieces from Spring to Summer. Versatility is key for me, and the color palette this season is giving me all the heart eyes- mustard, navy, tomato red, and magenta are all saturated, rich hues that can be mixed together to make an exciting color palette for your wardrobe in the upcoming seasons. Anddd most everything is under $100, your wallet thanks me! Ha!

First, is the epitome of a flowy summer top from Free People. It’s called the Love Letter Tee and Belk has it on super sale right now for only $32 in navy and ivory. Reviews say that this top runs large (although it is designed to be flowy, but I’d recommend sizing down). I absolutely love the colors on the embroidery, especially in the navy. The bright orange, red and magenta would look gorgeous with white cutoff shorts for a casual day look and sleek white skinny jeans and espadrille wedges for a date night. Shop by clicking this link: Love Letter Tee

I’m obsessed with these tortoiseshell over-sized sunnies from Madewell. They’re called the Pacific Cat Eye Sunglasses and I love the understated cat eye shape. They’re only $65 and literally one of those styles that can be worn all day errrryday. Shop by clicking the pic below.

This beautiful Topshop mustard tie dress has the prettiest details. First off, mustard is all the buzz this season and I love pairing it with unlikely colors like turquoise and bright red to add a pop of extra color. I’m wearing it below with some bright red tassel earrings (similar here and here) and also added a leopard print tassel clutch. This dress comes in several colors and I’ll link them all below the picture! Also, there is a cutout detail in the front and down the center of the back (I wore a Free People bralette underneath, which is also in the collage it comes in seven colors and you can check it out here: bralette)

Several dress colors are on sale for only $39.99 (like the royal blue that I’m also eyeing!) Check them all out below!

Meet your new summer everyday bag: the Sole Society Aerin Canteen Crossbody. It’s hands down the perfect summer bag. The crossbody style is one of my favorites anyway, hands-free is the way to be and I love that it’s vegan leather. The details on the handle and snap add extra visual elements to make this bag look much more expensive than $50. It’s also available in a beautiful blush color. Another circle bag I’m eyeing this season is the BP. straw bag. This is perrrrrfect for vacay or just to bring a beachy vibe to any look. All 3 bags linked below!

This vivid asymmetrical peplum top is also a great summer transition top to wear now with a jean jacket or kimono and in the summer with shorts or skinnies. I love the bright tomato red color and the ruffle hem details. Also, it’s under $40! Love a good deal. I paired this top with 3 colors of tassel earrings that I consider spring/summer must-haves (especially the ombre red ones) that you can also shop below!

The two shoe styles I chose for this post are a casual heel option and a sandal that you can practically wear with everything under the sun. First, is the Claudia Sandal from Madewell in brown. I love the wood heel and the ankle strap- one of my favorite styles! They are also available in a bright red. Even though suede is normally considered a fall/winter textile, I think that these are perfect for every season. Next, the Steve Madden Greece Leather Sandals are the summer sandals you NEED in your life, and you can quote me on that! They come in 4 colors (white, blush, rose gold, and black) and are under $80! Quality is the key word for both of these, so even though they are a little more than I’d normally spend on shoes, I believe they are well worth the investment. To quote Carrie Bradshaw, “I like my money where I can see it, hanging in my closet.” Well, in this case, it’s on your feet but regardless…wise words from the queen of shoes, am I right!?! Shop below!

Another top that I’m dyingggg for is this BP. ruffle sleeve top from Nordstrom. I absolutely adore the embroidery detail on the ruffle sleeves and to me, it’s an adorably elevated basic tee! Under $40! Shop by clicking the pic below!

This Free People wrap dress is the bee’s knees, the cat’s meow, and dog’s pajamas (that’s one of those sayings too, right?!?…) You get the idea though! This dress is just good. I love this style for a cute, carefree, and flirty day look with sandals for a fun day date with your man or brunch with your girlfriends. It’s truly effortless and has the cutest details with the wrap and ruffles. Only $68! Shop by clicking the pic below!

Last but certainly not least, is this off-the-shoulder pink ruffle dress. This dress screams summer date night or girl’s night to me. I love the simplicity of it because you can “frost yourself” (movie reference moment that couldn’t be avoided) by dressing it up with colorful accessories! It’s essentially a blank canvas, and I love that you can create so many different looks depending on your plans/mood! Shop by clicking the pic below!

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you ever have any questions about anything, please feel free to go to my *Contact* menu and send me a message!!! Also, if you’re on the hunt for more spring pieces, be sure to check out my *Spring Shop* menu!!

Happy January! I hope your new year is going amazingly! Okay, so I know, I know. It has been MORE than a hot minute since my last post. I took a GIANT little hiatus from blog world during the holidays, but I am BACK! I have several upcoming posts planned for the blog…beauty reviews, fashion faves, home decor, recipes and fitness stuff, this and that, AND an intro to a new super cute online boutique that my bestie owns! I can’t wait to give you the details!

I wanted to write a quick post about some of my current favorites. They’re all under $100, SO many are on sale, and most of these are great transition pieces into Spring! Yep, already talking Spring! South Carolina gave us a tease last weekend with temps in the 70s so it really got me thinking about transition necessities and season staple pieces. You can shop any of these pieces below by clicking the highlighted word for the product in my description OR clicking the pictures below that!

  • Both of the striped sweaters on the left corner are from H&M and under $20! They’re a lightweight knit and bold stripes are so WOKE right now (hahahaha alert alert-old lady using the teen lingo…did I even use it correctly? Who knows…anyway)… the black and white striped sweater comes in 14 colors and I’d definitely consider it a great winter to spring transition piece. The pink and orange striped one is another one of the color options. Such a deal!
  • The BP color splice sweater in the right corner is another adorable addition to your winter wardrobe and would be perfect on those lingering cold days coming up in February. I love the unique design of the colors and stripes! Under $60
  • Now, let’s move on to the Sole Society Floral Embroidered Velvet Kimono. This is suchhhh a pretty piece (under $60 also) and I would style it with a solid white tee underneath, jeans (distressed ones if you’re feeling edgy), and flats or booties. Here’s how I’d style it with a few pieces from this collage collection:

  • The Free People January tee (white tee) from this pic comes in several colors (I own it in olive green) and it’s the perfect spring swing top for under $50.
  • I just recently purchased the short sleeve dress (Hailey Crepe Dress) that’s featured and it has been hard to resist not getting it in every color offered. It will be THE perfect spring and summer dress to wear with sandals for a casual look or heels/wedges to dress it up for night. It’s a great piece to go ahead and get because you can layer it with a cardigan now and wear it with booties. It’s under $50.
  • The cowl neck sweater dress is so super cute and slouchy…it’s basically one of those throw-on-and-go type dresses that make getting ready effortless. Also under $50!
  • When was the last time you shopped at Abercrombie? For me it was probably a solid 15 years ago. UNTIL a month ago. A fellow blogger was raving about Abercrombie’s denim, so I took a chance and ordered just to see if they were worth the hype…since then, I’ve ordered two more. They are stretchy, comfy, hide my momma pudge (you know what I’m saying), and are the best jean I’ve ever had. Hands down. The High Rise Super Skinnies are my new best friend…I have them in black distressed, grey wash, and dark. Right now, they’re buy one get one 50% off, so it’s a good time to stock up!
  •  Loving this BP faux leather circle clutch …not really sure it could get any cuter with that wooden circle handle. Plus, at only $25, it is a no brainer for a spring closet staple.  Speaking of staples…the Sole Society Roman Slouchy Tote comes in black and brown and is such a cute shape to throw anything and everything you need on a daily basis. It also has a zippered pouch on the inside to secure all that money you’re rolling with.
  • Now, my person favorite… the jewels! Kendra Scott’s spring line is BOMB and these gorgeous Emmet Drop Earrings are to DIE FOR! They are a little pricier BUT some colors are under $100. My fringe obsession continues from last season with Baublebar’s Martina deco fringe earrings! They come in cobalt blue and hot pink…I can’t even with these y’all. Under $40 and a must-have fo sho. Also, this gorgeous Gorjana crescent necklace is a perfect layering piece for everyday. It’s unique and dainty and giving me all the heart eyes. Under $80!
  • Last but NOT least, shoes. I have been on the hunt for some neutral flats that weren’t boring AF and I finallyyyy found them with the Sienna Flat from BP at Nordstrom. I absolutely love the all over studded detail and they come in grey, blue, and black. Under $50! I am also obsessed with the Sole Society double zipper bootie. It’s a classic, yet edgy silhouette and the zipper detail and low ankle design are perfect for jeans and dresses. They come in this blue (my fave) and two other colors!

SHOP any and all of these pieces below!

Have a great hump day and I’ll be back later this week with some home faves for your bedroom! Stay styled, sugarplum!

Hey y’all! Happy weekend! I can’t believe Tuesday is Halloween and Wednesday is NOVEMBER! Ahhh where did October go? Cooler temperatures finally made their way to South Carolina last week and I am so thankful! This welcomed temperature drop totally got me in the mood for a fall fashion collage. I actually posted this picture to Instagram a few weeks ago, but I wanted to post it here too because I am loving these staples and fall color palette! Everything has a unique twist to it and I love the details. I linked everything below the picture!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Halloween!

Hey y’all! This post was supposed to be published a WHILE back, but life strikes again! I hope you’ve had a great week and are gearing up for Halloween! My son is going to be a robot and I can’t wait! He has been practicing (and mastering) his robot walk!
So, today I’m coming atcha with a hair tool that has completely changed my hair game and made life so much easier. I thought since I’ve had plenty of time to test it, I’d give you my thoughts on why you need it in your life, too!
Drumroll please….I introduce you to: the best curling iron on planet Earth. This is a 100% FACT. It’s the Hot Tools Professional 1 1/4″ Rainbow Gold Barrel Curling Iron. I have the rainbow gold barrel, but the solid gold one is just as amazing (so I’ve heard from a fellow blogger.) I absolutely love the size curls it produces. Before this one, I had two that I used…a one inch curling wand and then a one and a half inch curling iron. You wouldn’t think the measurements make that big of a difference, but it does! Let me explain why I think this one is at the top of its class.

  1. It heats up faster than the speed of light and curls just as fast. Within a few seconds, it’s ready to go and reaches temps up to 450 degrees. Being a busy mom, I have NO time to mess around when it comes to getting ready. So I really appreciate a super fast heat-up. It takes less than ten minutes to go through and curl my hair with this curling iron, and the quality of the curls it produces is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And trust me, I have tested out a ton of different hair tools. Previously, I was using a hair wand BUT I find that having a clamp (like in this curling iron) helps me to mold my curls easier and faster. IF you wanted to use it as a wand, you can, just don’t open the clamp.
  2. The cord swivels so there’s no fighting with the curling iron. Also, let me add another fun fact about the cord…it’s 8 ft long. This is a really nice feature too because there’s plenty of slack in the cord for it to move around while you curl different sides of your hair. Lots of freedom of movement.
  3. The gold ensures even heat distribution throughout the entire curling iron, and is effective for every hair type. Plus, it’s just so dang pretty.
  4. I love the soft grip feel. I have total control and I also really appreciate the extended length thumb grip. It really makes it super easy to style your curls.
  5. How do I use it to curl my hair? I section off my hair into three parts (bottom/middle/top.) Then I usually run it through 1-2″ sections of my hair (always moving away from my face), clamp in the middle, twist up toward my scalp (leaving the iron two or so inches away from the bottom of my root), “pump” it down that strand by slightly opening up the clamp twice and moving it down, and then curling back up toward my scalp for 6-8 seconds (depending on how loose or tight I want my curls that day.)  I go through my entire head like this (without brushing…you want to let the curls set.) After I’m finished curling my entire head, let the curls sit for another minute or so THEN brush them out. After brushing, use a flexible hold hair spray or hair spray to set the curls. (I’ve linked some of my favorite products down below.) I’ll usually run my fingers through my hair for a “just left the beach” look. I will say that I think any styling works best on second and third day hair! It tends to hold the curl better (at least for me!)

This has been my technique to achieve the curls you see in the very last picture. (Sorry it’s just a selfie…I’d attempt to shoot a hair tutorial, but I’m not that brave yet!) This curling iron is the only one I’ve ever used that runs smoothly down my hair and is really quick and effective for giving me the beach wave curls. It’s available at Ulta and runs about $60…(linked below.) You can use rewards coupons on it though, and they almost always seem to be running sales on them!

Here are a few additional hair tools and product faves of mine that I use daily and swear by! (My favorite root booster is in there along with the dry shampoo that I couldn’t function without!)

I hope you check it out and it makes your life easier! If you do, let me know how you like it! Also, if you have any products that have changed your hair game, please let me know! I always love testing out new things!
