Happy hump day peeps! I hope you had a fab holiday weekend! I absolutely loved
stalking scoping out everyone’s festivities on social media- July 4th is one of my all-time favorite holidays for food, fun, and bringing people together!!! I also hope your holiday hangover has subsided and you’re successfully back to the grind! Not gonna lie, I’m still getting back into the swing of life!
So, I’m going to start a new monthly feature on my blog called Charleston Spotlight. I’ll highlight different must-see areas of Charleston and/or the wonderful people that make this city tick. Speaking of Charleston- we were just named the TOP city to visit in the world by Travel + Leisure. That’s a BIG deal, y’all! I’m so proud of my little city…I knew you could do it, kid! Okay, I could talk all day about how much I love Charleston, BUT it’s time to get down to business! I have been dying to share deets about a shoot I did with some super talented girl bosses. WELL, THE TIME IS NOW!! Yippie! 🎉
So, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to collaborate with local photographer extraordinaire Jennifer Collins (IG:@jcollinsphotog) and stylist/turkish towel & accessories queen Liz Martin (IG:@charlestonweekender) for a fun shoot at Mixon Bath & Raquet Club in the Park Circle area of North Charleston. This area is the cutest little community! It offers fabulous amenities for its members with a really cool relaxed, retro vibe. It totally takes me back to the 1950s. Besides the pool, tennis courts, bocce ball/game area, and restaurant/bar (which looks amazing btw), they also offer yoga and wellness classes and event rentals for parties! OH AND cooking and wine classes- whaaaaat!?!?! Sign me UP! Can you tell I loved this place? It’s like North Charleston’s best kept secret…well, I guess the secret is OUT! OOPS!
I wouldn’t have discovered it without the fabulous Jennifer and Liz- this dynamic duo could seriously take over the world (and make it look reaaaaaaal good!) I absolutely admire their love and devotion to our beautiful city of Charleston! Plus, they are two of the sweetest and hard-working Charleston gals I’ve met! Check out Jennifer’s work here: Jennifer Collins Photography and Liz’s page here: The Charleston Weekender. Jennifer has an eye for capturing the raw beauty and vibrance of Charleston with her photography. You’ll completely fall head over heels for her Instagram too- total web candy! Liz of The Charleston Weekender is the jack of all trades. She has a line of adorably cute and colorful turkish towels and accessories…and is also a total style guru! She offers professional styling services for not only your business and social media, but also for your home! TOTAL GIRL BOSSES…am I right?!?!
These lovely ladies teamed together with local retailers Candy Shop Vintage, Simply J Boutique, and Nectar Sunglasses to style a perfect summer shoot at Mixon with some fellow Charleston bloggers! I couldn’t make it in time for the group shots (thanks WORK…ha!), but you can check out the entire shoot on Jennifer’s blog here: Charleston Blogger Shoot
Check out some of my favorite solo shots below!
As far as styling my look, I kept things fairly simple and preppy with a chambray button up tank, white shorts, tassel necklace (on repeat this entire summer so far), and brown leather strappy espadrille sandals. I chose a white Charleston rice bead necklace (that I wrapped into a bracelet) from Candy Shop Vintage and a super festive striped clutch from Simply J Boutique. The clutch is really the headliner for this look. I wanted a pop of red, white, and blue for July 4th…although, in my opinion, this clutch doesn’t scream Independence Day. It’s totally versatile for use all summer long. I love how the white frames from the Nectar sunglasses add a modern vintage feel (which fit in perfectly for the vibe at Mixon!)
I hope you enjoyed my very first *Charleston Spotlight* and you should definitely check out the fabulousness of Jennifer, Liz, and Mixon Bath & Raquet Club! Until next time ✌️| Stay styled, sugarplum!💋
