Weekend Recap and Comfy Classics

Hi! I hope the start of this week has treated you well! We are slowly recovering from a super busy weekend! My cousin got married on Saturday and it was absolutely magical! His reception was at the Wickliffe House downtown across from the medical university (MUSC) and I am still swooning over this gorgeous venue.  The mansion was built in 1850, and was such a perfect space for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The exterior really had me thinking about how a black and white color palette can be so bold, yet understated at the same time. (Totally coincides with my look, which we will get to momentarily!) Here’s a picture so you can have a visual of just how dreamy this night was! If you’d like check out more pics of the beautiful architecture inside or find out more information and history, check out their website!>>Wickliffe House

It was such a fun night of love, celebration, and SO.MUCH.DANCING. My husband had his dancing shoes on, and when he gets going- he never stops! #cantstopwontstop #extracardio I’m not complaining because,  🎶” I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night, and still have begged for more.” 🎶 (Love me some Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady!)

Mother’s Day was relaxing and oh so sweet. The hubs let me sleep in and we had a pancake breakfast…it was GLORIOUS!!! I was happy to have my Mother in town for the wedding festivities, so I could also spend some extra time with her for the holiday. I owe everything to her. She is truly a superhero, and now that I’m a mother myself, this is a holiday to truly cherish all the love, guidance, and let’s face it- hard work that it takes to raise children.  I can only hope that my son looks up to me one day like I do to her. Before I get too sentimental, cry all over the keyboard, and cause a technical malfunction… let’s talk comfy classics!

You really can’t go wrong with black and white. It’s classic, chic, and stands the test of trends and time. It’s one of those combos that you can wear for any occasion, too. This look can be a casual daytime go-to, office friendly with a blazer or vest, or happy hour/night out ready. Each piece is lightweight and also extremely moveable fabric for the utmost comfort. *Sidenote: How fun is this wall?

First off, these pants from H&M are amazing! Dress them down with sandals, sneakers, or flatforms for errands, or wear them with heels to instantly transform to a dressy casual look. They come in several colors and prints AND they’re only $17.99! I’ve paired them with a simple black and white knit top and tucked it in to showcase the adorable pleat detail at the waistline (bonus: they also have pockets!) I added my favorite handbag (my “To:Me, From: Me” Christmas present last year)…a Kate Spade satchel handbag in red for a pop of color and contrast to the monochromatic color scheme. It’s a wonderful investment bag that I don’t regret one bit- it will always be in style. Many bags will come and go, but I’ll still be rocking it when I’m old and grey. Plus, I like to mix designer goods with budget friendly pieces to maximize my wardrobe.  I’ve linked a few similar styles below. I also added a beaded tassel pendant necklace from Express and gold triangle tier earrings for some bling, along with simple black strap sandals with a wood heel.
