Color Me Inspired

Inspiration. It can completely shift and mold the gears of your life. It can move you in ways you didn’t know you could be moved, make you think in ways you didn’t know you could think, and feel in ways you didn’t know you could feel. What are some things that inspire you? Could it be fashion? Travel? Nature? Music, people, or movement? Whatever it may be, it fuels creativity for your mind. For me, one source has always been music. Music gives me a chance to unleash the natural rhythm in my heart and soul. Whether I’m the dancer, or the teacher creating choreography for my students, I can be inspired by a single note, and have visions of movement dance through my head. I listen to music any time I’m working on outfit styling- it can completely define the vibe I’m trying to achieve. I also get inspired by colors. My favorite color is blue… it takes me back to my youth spending summers and weekends at the beach and the lake.  It’s a cool, calming color naturally, but it sends me to a very happy place. Art is another inspiration that fuses movement and color together with dynamic cohesion and intrigue. I stumbled upon a beautifully blue saturated piece by a talented local artist from my hometown, Morgan Walker.  I asked Morgan about where her inspiration originates: ” I am inspired by Liza, my two year old daughter. She has no control when she colors and paints, and I love the beautiful chaos that she creates. I am very OCD, so I listen to music while I paint and draw, and let the music completely control my movement.” Morgan is a true visionary with a serious passion for her work, and has just recently launched her website. (Hooray!) Check out her vibrant and unique art here: Melvin G

This featured piece is called “surf city” . I love it because it gives me cool vibes, and transports me to the seaside.
Art is definitely an avenue that can inspire and trigger creativity with style. This piece had me thinking about colors of the season. I’ve chosen to feature a few items from a particular shade of blue called “Serenity” that was chosen as one of the spring colors of 2016 by the Pantone Color Institute.
